Solid grow at the consumer prices

In October 2008 consumer prices increased by 0.2% compared to the previous month and rose by 5.1% compared to October 2007. In the first ten months of 2008 the average increase of prices was 6.5% compared to the corresponding period of year 2007.

 In October 2008 compared to the
previous month food prices increased by 0.3%. Price increase was measured in case of pork fat (9.9%),
seasonal food items (potatoes, fresh vegetables and fruits) (3.5%),
bacon (3.1%), egg (1.3%), rolls (1.2%) as well as salami, sausages,
ham (0.7%). Price decrease was measured in case of flour (2.1%),
edible oil and pasta products (1.9-1.9%), as well as chocolate, cocoa
and cheese (1.4-1.4%). The price rise of clothing and footwear was
the highest (4.9%) due to the seasonal changes. In case of
electricity, gas and other fuels and alcoholic beverages, tobacco
prices increased by 0.4-0.4%, at a rate higher than the average. The
price rise of consumer durable goods (0.1%) was near to the average.
Price decrease was measured in case of other goods (0.9%) comprising
a 3.2% price decrease of motor fuels. Prices of services have not
changed compared to the previous month.

In October 2008 compared to October
2007 food prices rose by 6.3%, a higher-than-average rate. In

this category a substantial price
increase was observed in case of edible oil (48.5%), rice, other
cereals (32.2%), pork fat (29.9%), margarine (17.9%), pork (12.5%),
milk (10.3%), other meat preparations (10.0%) as well as cheese
(9.6%). In case of electricity, gas and other fuels prices increased
by 16.1%, at a rate higher than the average, while piped gas rose by
31.5%. The price rise of alcoholic beverages, tobacco (6.0%) was
higher than the average. In case of services (4.3%) and other goods
(3.4%) price increase was below than the average comprising a 7.6%
price rise of motor fuels. Prices of clothing and footwear have not
changed. Consumers have to paid 1.0% less for consumer durable goods.
