Retail sales in the Czech Republic also decreased in September
Retail sales in the Czech Republic decreased by 4 percent year-on-year in September, the Czech Statistical Office (CSÚ) announced on Tuesday in Prague.
In August, a drop of 2.8 percent was measured. According to statisticians, lower sales of food products and manufactured goods both played a role in the acceleration of the decline in retail sales. On the other hand, fuel sales continued to grow.
“The increase in fuel sales and the turnover of service stations has been continuous since March”
Jana Gotvaldová, director of the statistical office, declared at a press conference.
Annually, food sales decreased by 4.1 percent in September, industrial goods by 5.9 percent, while fuel sales decreased by 4.5 percent. At the same time, the turnover of service centers increased by 2.7 percent on an annual basis, but compared to the previous month, they registered a 1.7 percent decrease.
