In September, the economic index of the GKI decreased slightly
According to a survey conducted by the GKI Gazdaságkutátó – with the support of the EU – in September, the prospects of the business sector and consumers also collapsed only very slightly compared to August. Thus, the value of the GKI business cycle index fell within the statistical margin of error. Neither the companies’ employment plans nor the predictability of the business environment have changed. The price increase plans of the business sector decreased modestly, but at the same time the population’s inflation expectations rose to an 18-month high.
The expectations of the domestic business sector did not change significantly in the first autumn month. The GKI business confidence index – after July and August – also fell within the margin of error in September compared to the previous month. In September, the prospects only worsened significantly in trade, and no significant changes occurred in the other three sectors. The most unfavorable signals continue to come from the construction industry. In industry, the assessment of the order book was firm, the assessment of self-produced stocks deteriorated slightly, but the production outlook for the next three months improved noticeably. In the construction industry, the assessment of the order book worsened, while employment expectations became more favorable. In trade, satisfaction with the course of business in the previous three months and the assessment of inventories slightly deteriorated, while the assessment of expected orders in the next three months deteriorated significantly. In the service sector, there was no significant change in any of the factors compared to the previous month.
Enterprises’ willingness to employ in September essentially did not change compared to August. And the assessment of the predictability of the farming environment has not changed much either. Plans to increase prices have only decreased very modestly.
