September 29 is world coffee day: these are the latest trends in coffee consumption
We can safely say that coffee is one of the most popular drinks in the world, as 3 billion cups of it are sold every day. On September 29, the world day of the popular invigorating drink, we took a look at the latest trends in coffee consumption.
Not only on the shelves of supermarkets, but also on the drink menus of coffee shops, drink lovers can come across more and more cold coffee versions, and more and more people are looking for these versions. In addition to ready-to-drink iced coffees, freshly brewed coffees are also served cold. The Cold Brew method, which is completely different from the traditional preparation of iced coffee, uses cold water for preparation, while in the case of Flash Brew, hot water is poured over the coffee and then quickly cooled.
It has been observed for a long time that consumers are also looking for healthier alternatives in the case of drinks, and this trend was only intensified by the coronavirus epidemic. Instead of soft drinks, more and more people are looking for iced coffees, which refresh and, thanks to the caffeine, give them a boost. It is also due to this trend that the coffee consumption per capita is continuously increasing, currently in Hungary we drink an average of 3.1 kg of coffee per person per year, and thus occupy the 24th place in the world ranking. (For the world-leading Finns, the amount is 9.6 kg/person/year).
