The horticulture of the future is being built in Szentes, young people will not only receive a profession that ensures a living, but also the opportunity for a career – emphasized the Minister of Agriculture on Thursday in Szentes, at the mentoring program event launched by the Southern Hungarian Gardeners’ Cooperative (DélkerTÉSZ), the Great Hungarian Agricultural Vocational Training Center and the Great Hungarian ASzC Bartha János Horticultural Technical School and Vocational Training School.

István Nagy drew attention: the Ministry of Agriculture is committed to ensuring that agricultural vocational training keeps pace with the changing world and provides real, modern knowledge to young people.
In this spirit, the vocational training system has been transformed, dual training has been introduced, the modernization of agricultural vocational training centers and educational institutions has begun, and the development of teaching farms has begun – the Minister listed.
István Nagy pointed out: as a result, young people are now equipped with the most up-to-date technologies and modern They can learn the profession with the help of these tools. He highlighted that the government has provided 15.5 billion forints for the Demonstration Plant Support application announced in the Rural Development Program.
He said about the mentoring program that it offers an opportunity in which young people gain modern practical knowledge, get involved in production, and can count on the support of the professional community right from the beginning of their careers. He called the program an exemplary initiative that provides an answer to one of the most important agricultural challenges, generational change.
The minister emphasized that generational change is not only a plan, but a living, working process in the Hungarian countryside, which is also supported by the government.
He highlighted that the institution is the only horticultural high school in Szentes and its surroundings, which both preserves professional tradition and provides modern, practice-oriented training to young people. István Nagy announced that the Ministry of Agriculture will support the school’s further development with 1.33 billion forints.
The goal is clear: we must ensure the supply of new horticultural professionals and strengthen a career path that is built on knowledge, work and a predictable future, the minister stated. He added that agriculture is one of the most important professions, therefore every initiative that strengthens agricultural training, supports knowledge transfer, and educates future professionals serves the common future.
Sándor Nagypéter, President and CEO of DélkerTÉSZ, highlighted that the horticultural society is aging and there is a need for innovative, development-capable producers.
He reported that an experimental garden was created in the practice garden of the Bartha János School with the mentoring program, where practical education can be renewed and it provides students with the opportunity to learn about the most modern cultivation methods.
József Horváth, the general director of the Great Plain Agricultural Training Center, said that the school is working for the future of horticulture and the gardeners of the future. The goal is to continue growing healthy vegetables in fifty years, which can supply even half the country, he added.
At the event, Sándor Farkas, former Parliamentary State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fidesz MP for the region, presented the award for the rise of the countryside to István Nagy, Minister of Agriculture.
After the event, the developments to date were ceremoniously handed over in the tank yard of the Bartha János school.
