Brainstorming and playing on World Food Safety Day
In 2023, the World Food Safety Day will be based on the key message “Food standards save lives”. The National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) launched a social campaign for the June 7 event. In the educational part of the campaign, the public can get to know the FAO’s messages about food standards in the form of short attitude-shaping videos, as well as the purpose of the Hungarian Food Code, the main collection of rules for the Hungarian food industry. Moreover, in the past few days, even the playful ones, who could test their knowledge of food safety on Nébih’s social media platforms, were not left without work.
Food safety is our common cause, as foodborne diseases affect one in 10 people worldwide every year. Although food standards are the primary guarantee of food safety, in most cases we as consumers can do a lot to prevent diseases – by paying attention and using proper nutrition. This is why it is particularly important to shape attitudes and educate them to be conscious buyers from a young age. World Food Safety Day is just one day every year, but conscious food shopping and correct food handling rules must become our everyday practice. Help to learn this exercise is provided by dr. Olga Beáta Felkai, Deputy Secretary of State responsible for food chain safety at the Ministry of Agriculture, in short videos related to World Day.
Attitude-shaping videos containing messages from the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations), as well as domestic food safety advice, and much more useful information are available on the campaign page.
