Szatmári Pear Festival in Ököritófülpös
Government workers plan to cook one thousand dose of bean goulash on Saturday in Ököritófülpös, Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county to supply the guests of this year's Szatmári Pear Festival, but the chefs cooking competition will also surprise the visitors of the event with folk food specialties.
Szabó Béla, mayor of the settlement that has an approximately 1,900 inhabitants told MTI, on Wednesday that they have a long tradition of pear cultivation.The locals cultivate the fruit on about 45 hectares of land.
The festival begins on Saturday at 9 am with a cooking competition. All-day cultural program offering awaits the guests with a variety of the area's traditional bands. The famous Fergeteges Folk Dance Ensemble will also hit the stage. The program closes with dance at the evening at the local sports ground. (MTI)
