Szatmár bitter liqueur was recalled from the market
Várda-Drink Zrt. recalled Szatmár bitter liqueur from the market due to beta-azarone content above the limit value – the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) informed MTI on Wednesday.
Nébih asks customers not to consume the 0.4 deciliter beverage with an unlimited shelf life, item number L4025M1, and 7 deciliter package, item number L4521P1.
Beta-azarone is a plant-based chemical that damages the liver. It can be found in nature, for example, in the medicinal plant called kálmos, which is one of the components of aromatic stomach bitters.
