Nowadays, fiber and green fodder plants are of increasing importance, which are used directly for green fodder or indirectly as fermented and dried fodder.

There are three main groups:

  • Butterfly flower fiber fodders /e.g. alfalfa, red clover, sorghum, alfalfa, dogwood and purple clover/
    • Compound feeds /autumn and spring/
  • Annual, non-lepidopteran fibrous and bulk feeds /corn fescue, other fescue and silage plants, as well as fodder chickpeas/

The Demonstration Plant Application highlights the importance of grasses and green fodder plants for hay production and variety trials as a key topic

At the demonstration organized by the Field Variety Experiment Department (FVU), the FVU and Agro-Largo Kft. employees gave lectures and field demonstrations. During the lectures, interested parties received information and guidance on the role of the plant species concerned in farming, and were also able to gain insight into the variety trial methodology and work. Those present were able to view the current experiments in this regard in field conditions, and they were also able to get an idea of the work at the relevant stations. The office will continue the series of events, to which all interested parties are still welcome.
