The unprofitable supermarkets and hypermarkets can be sanctioned
The National Assembly adopted the proposal of the government on Tuesday that prohibits the sales of daily consumer goods for larger shops that are unable to produce profits for two consecutive years.
The MPs adopted the amendment with 116 yes votes 34 against and with 25 abstentions.
The Parliament's decision also banned the operation of 400 square meter larger shops selling daily consumer goods shops from 2018 at World Heritage areas, referring to the protection of city image and the environment. In Budapest the Danube and the Buda Castle district skyline, the Andrássy Avenue and its historic surroundings have World Heritage protection currently. (MTI)
