NÉBIH focuses on strawberry cheaters
More and more foiled Hungarian strawberries are on the shelves, where they still should have compete with the much cheaper Spanish strawberries.
Between their prices the difference is high, because the Spanish strawberry costs 600 HUF per kilograms its wholesale price is between 300 to 350 HUF. The Hungarian strawberry costs 1000-1500 HUF fruit, but it is much tastier.
Several casual sellers are trying to take advantage of the significant price difference and trying to sell the Spanish strawberries as Hungarians.
The NÉBIH (National Food Chain Safety Office) encourages anyone who meets infridgements like above to report it. (toll-free number 06 80/263-244). ( by our colleague)
