Hotel Association: hotels closed an excellent year

Hotels in Hungary closed an excellent year last year. The 18 million hotel room nights is a 6 percent growth over the previous year; However the migrant situation is a risk to the future – Kovács István, General Secretary of the Hungarian Association of Hotels and Restaurants (MSZÉSZ) said at a trade conference in Budapest on Wednesday.

According to data of the Central Statistical Office (KSH), the commercial accommodations registered 25 million 765 thousand overnight stays last year, 5.4 percent more than in 2014. The number of overnight stays spent by foreign tourists increased by 4.6 percent to 12 million 915 thousand, while domestic guests spent 6.4 percent more, a total of 12 million 850 thousand nights in commercial accommodations.
