Tesco supports the Hungarian Food Bank Association with over 7,7 million HUF donations. The chain of stores, in cooperation with its suppliers, offered 1% of the revenue from the sales of the products involved in the charitable campaign in its European markets to local food banks. The Hungarian Food Bank Association uses the support to deliver the food packages to the needy.
Hundreds of products from 25 brands in Hungary have been involved in the initiative, and the customers of the supermarket chain have been able to contribute to the success of the action by buying detergents, soft drinks, pet foods and sweets. At the end of the two-week collection, a total of 7.7 million HUF was collected in Hungary. The Food Bank can finance the delivery of tens of thousands of food packages to the needy.
