Szallas.hu: the Hungarians’ desire to travel is unbroken
Hungarians’ desire to travel is unbroken, the favorable weather of the past few weeks has boosted the desire to book, this was also seen in July’s saturation and had an impact on August’s pre-bookings, the Szallas.hu portal told MTI on Monday.
Based on the latest data from the online accommodation agency, the volume of summer bookings received so far is still 19 percent lower than last year’s record summer, and is also below the pre-pandemic level of 2019, which is considered the base. Lili Kelemen, the spokesperson of Szallas.hu, evaluated the data and said: travelers started booking accommodation earlier this year for their vacations, but as the season approached, the demand did not increase dramatically. Despite all this, there is also a clear winner of the season: the number of summer bookings in Visegrád increased by nearly 10 percent.
Overall, Siófok is still the most popular holiday destination among Hungarians, followed by Hajdúszoboszló, Budapest, Eger and Gyula. At the regional level, similar to the summer trends of previous years, Balaton is the most popular, now every third summer reservation is made here, while a month ago only every fifth reservation was at Balaton.
