Szallas.hu: crowds go on the road during the autumn break
The dates of the fall break between October 26 and November 3 show a keen interest among domestic travelers booking on Szallas.hu: the number of pre-bookings increased by 9 percent compared to last year’s fall break – Szallas.hu announced the results of its survey on Friday.
Most of the pre-bookings concern the Northern Great Plain, Northern Hungary and Southern Great Plain regions, while Eger, Gyula, Budapest, Pécs and Szeged are at the top of the list of settlements.
Half of the bookings are for two nights, a quarter for three, and 16 percent are for one night. In September and October, a quarter of the total value of online payments related to domestic reservations was settled with a SZÉP card, they added.
Although October 23rd does not fall on a long weekend this year, the last day of school on Friday, October 25th opens the fall break, followed by the long weekend of November 1st.
Lili Kelemen, the press spokesperson of Szallas.hu, added in the statement: together with last-minute bookings, a further significant increase is expected in the coming days.
The autumn period is favorable for hotels: guests chose a hotel for a third of the pre-bookings. A quarter of them chose an apartment, a fifth a guest house, every tenth guest chose a boarding house, while 5 percent were looking for another type of accommodation. 38 percent of pre-bookings were for wellness accommodation.
