Szallas.hu: Budapest, Hajdúszoboszló and Eger are the favorites of domestic travelers in spring

In the spring, Budapest, Hajdúszoboszló, Eger, and in the summer, Siófok, Hajdúszoboszló and Gyula may be the most common choices of domestic travelers – the Szallas.hu portal reported to MTI on Friday, based on pre-booking data.

They highlighted that the top ten are followed by Pécs, Miskolc, Siófok, Gyula, Szeged, Nyíregyháza and Hévíz on their top ten spring pre-booking list. Based on the regional summary, Northern Hungary is still in the lead, with nearly a fifth of the bookings, followed by Budapest and its surrounding area in second place, and Lake Balaton in third place. During the discounted pre-booking campaign designated for spring, bookings could be made for dates between January 20 and April 30 until February 15.

It was detailed that 41 percent of bookings were for two nights, 39 percent were for one night, and 3 nights were chosen for 14 percent of bookings. 60 percent of spring bookings were for 2 people. 46 percent of bookings were for hotels, and 23 percent were for apartments. Another 16 percent chose a guesthouse, 11 percent chose a pension, and 4 percent chose other types of accommodation.

46 percent of hotel reservations fell into the basket value category between 70,000 and 170,000 forints, and 40 percent paid a maximum of 70,000 forints. According to the summary of the apartment, pension, and guesthouse accommodation categories, 77 percent of guests choosing these types of accommodation had a basket value of up to 70,000 forints.

44 percent of pre-bookings selected wellness accommodation. Based on domestic travel trends in February and spring, destinations where relaxation, bathing and cultural programs are available at the same time continue to be particularly popular, the statement said.

Based on summer reservations, Siófok, Hajdúszoboszló and Gyula are in the lead. They are followed in a tie by Balatonfüred and Szeged, followed by Eger, Balatonlelle, Budapest, Zalakaros, Pécs and Harkány. In the regional summary, the usual summer round has taken place, with Lake Balaton leading with a third of summer reservations. Northern Hungary is in second place, and Southern Great Plain is in third place. 42 percent of summer reservations are for July, 38 percent for August and 20 percent for June. 23 percent of domestic summer bookings were for 3 nights, 21 percent for 4 nights, 19 percent for 2 nights, while 12 percent of bookings were for 5 nights. The proportion of one-night reservations is 10 percent, and 15 percent for 6 nights or longer.

Among the types of accommodation, apartments have so far received the largest proportion of summer bookings. Guesthouses were chosen for 26 percent of summer bookings, hotels for 23 percent, and pensions for 8 percent. The proportion of other types of accommodation is 6 percent. 38 percent of domestic summer reservations are for two people, 20 percent for four people, and 18 percent for three people.

The announcement mentioned that according to reservations in Croatia, Vir, Crikvenica, Rovinj, Zadar and Vodice are the favorites of Hungarians in the summer of 2026. 31 percent of reservations are for 7 nights, and 22-22 percent for 5 and 6 nights. The proportion of reservations for 4 nights is 11 percent. 14 percent of reservations are for other periods. In the case of the Croatian route, apartments are the most attractive for Hungarian guests, with 80 percent of bookings. Nearly a third of pre-bookings fall into the basket value category of over 370 thousand forints, 28 percent of them between 170-270 thousand forints. A fifth of bookings are between 270-370 thousand forints, and the proportion of bookings below 170 thousand forints is 18 percent. 32 percent of bookings in Croatia are for four people, 23 percent for two, and 18 percent for three people.
