Szallas.hu: Eger, Szeged and Pécs are the most popular among domestic travelers on New Year’s Eve
On New Year’s Eve, Eger, Szeged and Pécs are the most popular destinations among domestic travelers – Szallas.hu reported to MTI based on its booking data.
The accommodation booking portal highlighted that the top list also includes Gyula, Siófok, Budapest, Hajdúszoboszló, as well as Sárvár, Miskolc, Hévíz and Debrecen.
According to the geographical distribution of New Year’s Eve bookings, the Northern Great Plain region (20.54 percent) is the most popular, while the Balaton area (16.33 percent) and the Southern Great Plain (13.92 percent) can also expect significant guest traffic
– they reported.
42 percent of guests booked accommodation for two nights, 26 percent for three nights, and 21 percent for one night by the end of the year.
In terms of accommodation types, apartments are the most popular, accounting for 33.7 percent of bookings, followed by guesthouses (25.12 percent), hotels (24.12 percent) and pensions (12.05 percent).
In 62 percent of New Year’s bookings, those looking to relax spent less than 100 thousand forints on accommodation, 28 percent of them chose wellness accommodation.
According to Szallas.hu’s experience, the domestic booking market in 2024 was “strongly last minute”, with guests booking dates close to the discount period in a higher proportion than in the normal period. They expect this trend to continue next year.
