Szallas.hu: many people travel to Lake Balaton on the long weekend of August 20
Every third traveler rests on Lake Balaton during the four-day weekend of August 20; Siófok, Hajdúszoboszló, Hévíz, Eger and Szeged attract the most guests, Szallas.hu announced based on Wednesday’s booking data. Almost half of the bookings are for 3 nights.
According to the data of the booking portal, a third of the guests are vacationing on Lake Balaton during the celebration of the founding of the state. For about 18 percent of the bookings, settlements in the Northern Hungarian region were chosen, and 11 percent were for the Southern Great Plain. Based on the number of reservations, Siófok, Hajdúszoboszló and Hévíz lead the list of the most popular domestic destinations. The leaders are followed by Eger, Szeged, Gyula, Balatonfüred, Pécs, Zalakaros and Keszthely.
Lili Kelemen, the Szallas.hu press spokesperson, added in the statement that about 15 percent of the reservations are for four nights, and 13 percent are for one night. Travelers chose an apartment for every third reservation, and a guest house and hotel for every fourth.
In 28 percent of the bookings, guests chose wellness accommodation.
A third of the reservations with a departure date of August 20 are worth HUF 50-100 thousand, 21 percent are under HUF 50 thousand, and every fifth is between HUF 100 and 150 thousand. HUF 150,000-200,000 were paid for every tenth reservation, and the same rate for those worth HUF 200-300,000. Over 300,000 forints were spent on 5 percent of the bookings.
