Szallas.hu: Siófok remains the most attractive summer destination
Siófok remains the most attractive summer destination among Hungarians, with Lake Balaton accounting for a third of bookings in the region, and apartments are the best-selling accommodation type, the Szallas.hu portal told MTI on Thursday.
According to the company’s analysis, Budapest and Eger are next on the list of the most popular domestic destinations this summer, after Siófok, while Balatonfüred, Hajdúszoboszló, Gyula, Szeged, Nyíregyháza, Hévíz and Pécs are in the top ten, they added.
Among the regions, the Balaton region leads the field: 31 percent of bookings came here, followed by Northern Hungary with 16 percent, followed by the Southern Great Plain with 11 percent. This is followed by Western Transdanubia and the Northern Great Plain with 10 percent and 9 percent, respectively. Budapest and its surroundings received 8 percent of the bookings, Southern Transdanubia 7 percent, Central Transdanubia 6 percent, while the Lake Tisza region closed the list with a 2 percent share.
Apartments are the leading accommodation types nationwide, accounting for a third of summer bookings. The second most popular type is the hotel (27 percent), and the third is the guesthouse (23 percent).
According to data from Szallas.hu, two-thirds of domestic summer bookings are without board, and in 18 percent, guests only requested breakfast. 13 percent are half-board, 1.4 percent are all-inclusive, and 0.1 percent are full board.
It was reported that 79 percent of summer bookings are worth a maximum of 170 thousand forints, and 26 percent of online bookings in June and 28 percent in July were paid with a SZÉP card on the Szallas.hu website.
