Szallas.hu: the number of reservations and domestic guest nights increased in the first quarter
Hungarian guests booking on the Szallas.hu website spent 8 percent more nights in domestic accommodations in the first quarter of this year than a year earlier, and the number of reservations increased by 6.4 percent, the accommodation brokerage portal told MTI on Wednesday.
According to Szallas.hu, the increase in the desire to travel can be explained primarily by the long weekends, because the weekend of March 15 was three days long and Easter also fell during this period, while last year there was no long weekend in the first quarter.
The gross room rate revenue mediated by the portal increased by more than 13.5 percent. The impact of the SZÉP card in boosting tourism can also be felt, so far this year, almost 27 percent of online payments have been paid with the card. The average price of one night, based on gross room revenue and the number of guest nights, was 14,070 forints in the first quarter, 21,000 in hotels, 8,970 in apartments, 9,755 in guesthouses, and 11,225 in pensions.
