Szallas.hu: the number of reservations for August 20 and the days following the holiday has increased significantly
The number of accommodation reservations for arrivals on August 20 increased by 58 percent compared to the previous Wednesday, and data from Szallas.hu also shows that many people are extending the holiday with 1-2 days of vacation, the accommodation booking portal told MTI on Tuesday.
A third of the reservations are for the Balaton region, 16 percent for the Northern Hungary region, and 10 percent each for the Western Transdanubia, Northern Great Plain and Southern Great Plain regions. During this period, Siófok, Budapest, Hajdúszoboszló, Eger, Balatonfüred and Gyula are the most attractive destinations for guests, but based on the reservation data, Debrecen, Hévíz, Nyíregyháza and Balatonlelle are also popular.
Every third reservation is for two nights, every fifth for three nights. A quarter of the reservations are for one night, and the proportion of four-day stays is 13 percent. Bookings of five nights or longer account for 9 percent. Three-quarters of bookings are under 170 thousand forints – Szallas.hu reported.
The number of bookings on Szallas.hu for the period from August 1 to 17 increased by 60 percent and the number of guest nights by 79 percent compared to the same period in July.
Examining the same period in August last year, the number of bookings increased by 35 percent and the number of guest nights by 55 percent compared to July. The numbers show that although more people typically travel in August, the difference is even more spectacular this year, partly due to the stormy weather in July – the portal drew attention.
Between August 1 and 17 this year, Siófok, Eger and Hajdúszoboszló led the ranking among the most popular domestic destinations, but Gyula, Balatonfüred, Budapest, Szeged, Hévíz, Nyíregyháza and Balatonlelle also topped the booking list.
