Szallas.hu: Eger, Miskolc and Nyíregyháza are the most popular during the autumn break
According to Szallas.hu’s booking data, Eger, Miskolc and Nyíregyháza are the most popular destinations for those traveling with children during the autumn break, which starts on October 23. Most family bookings are for 3 or 4 people, typically for 2-3 nights, and 46 percent of them have a basket value between 70,000 and 170,000 forints. 24 percent of Szallas.hu’s offer is still available for booking, the accommodation booking portal told MTI on Wednesday.
For this year’s autumn break, most guests traveling with children have chosen accommodations in Eger, Miskolc, Nyíregyháza, Gyula and Siófok. The domestic top ten also includes Budapest, Pécs, Zalakaros, Hajdúszoboszló and Szeged. In terms of regional breakdown, Northern Hungary remains the most popular, with 27 percent of bookings coming here. Western Transdanubia follows with 15 percent, while the Balaton region has a share of 12 percent.
Most families come to accommodation for 2 nights (43 percent) or 3 nights (35 percent). The proportion of one-night bookings is around 11 percent, as are bookings for four or more nights. “Most family trips are for 3 or 4 people” – added Lili Kelemen, press spokesperson for Szallas.hu.
Of those traveling with children, one in three chooses a hotel for the autumn break, 30 percent book an apartment, and a quarter book a guesthouse. Approximately one in ten guests chooses a guesthouse, while other types of accommodation account for 3 percent of Szallas.hu bookings. Meals were requested in 59 percent of bookings – mostly in the form of half board. 39 percent of bookings for the break were for wellness accommodation.
During the autumn break, countless family-friendly programs and thematic experiences throughout the country make the joint relaxation even more memorable. Many accommodations offer children’s and family programs throughout the week: crafts, animation, mini disco, pumpkin carving, costume parade, magic show, themed games and fabulous theater performances.
In addition to events related to the harvest and Halloween, the St. Martin’s Day period also plays an important role, with new wine tastings and goose delicacies.
Zsolt Szabó, head of the Programs and Attractions business unit of Szallas.hu, said in the announcement that according to their experience, many people visit, for example, the Nyíregyháza Zoo, the Eger Castle, the Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden or the Visegrád Citadel.
In addition to historical sites, castles and museums are popular, such as the Almásy Castle in Gyula, the Skanzen in Szentendre or the Festetics Castle in Keszthely, while those looking to recharge their batteries can visit spas such as the Zalakaros Bath, the Hajdúszoboszló Spa or the Sárvár Spa and Wellness Bath.
