Szallas.hu: Eger, Budapest and Gyula are the most popular travel destinations this weekend, in addition to the national holiday events
In addition to the events of the national holiday on March 15, domestic travel will also be a popular program this weekend: Eger, Budapest, Gyula, Hévíz and Siófok are the most popular destinations – Szallas.hu told MTI on Thursday, based on its own data.
According to booking statistics, the ten most popular domestic destinations also include Szeged, Zalakaros, Egerszalók, Miskolc and Hajdúszoboszló. People spend most of their guest nights in the North Great Plain, Lake Balaton and South Great Plain regions.
58 percent of bookings are under 70 thousand forints, a third are between 70 and 170 thousand forints, while 9 percent exceed 170 thousand forints. Many people used SZÉP cards for domestic travel: so far in March, 27 percent of the total value of online payments has been paid with this card.
Among the types of accommodation, hotels remain the most popular, with four out of ten guests choosing them. A quarter of bookings are for apartments, a fifth for guesthouses, while 11 percent of guests choose pensions and 4 percent for other accommodation. Almost half of the bookings were for wellness accommodation.
They also referred to the online survey conducted by Szallas.hu on domestic holiday habits in early March, in which 1,012 people over the age of 18 participated.
Lili Kelemen, press spokesperson for Szallas.hu, noted in the statement about the results that the majority are planning to holiday domestically at least twice this year.
According to the data, the safest travel period is still the summer peak season: July and August, followed by May and April.
