Szallas.hu: besides the capital, Eger, Szeged and Pécs attracted the most guests in winter
In addition to the capital, Eger, Szeged and Pécs attracted the most guests in winter, and the majority of Hungarian travelers took short winter getaways this year as well: 1-2 night bookings characterized the season, according to data from Szallas.hu.
According to an analysis sent to MTI, many people used the SZÉP card for domestic travel, paying for almost a third of the total value of online payments in December last year, and 26 percent in January and February.
According to the portal’s booking data, most travelers chose the Northern Great Plain and Budapest-Central Danube regions, with four out of ten domestic accommodation reservations being for one of these.
In the northern region, Debrecen, Hajdúszoboszló and Nyíregyháza, in addition to Eger, were the most popular, while in the capital region, Budapest towered high, followed by Visegrád and Esztergom.
Lake Balaton came in third place in the ranking of regions, and it also received a larger proportion of Szallas.hu’s bookings this year than last year, Lili Kelemen, Szallas.hu’s press spokesperson, highlighted in the statement. Around the lake, Hévíz, Siófok and Zalakaros were the favorites of Hungarian guests in the winter season.
Three-quarters of bookings did not exceed 100 thousand forints, another 17 percent were between 100 and 200 thousand forints, while the proportion of bookings over 300 thousand forints was nearly 7 percent.
Among the types of accommodation, hotels were the most popular this season, according to the information, with 41 percent of bookings. Apartments were chosen in every fourth booking, while guesthouses and pensions received 16 and 13 percent of bookings, respectively.
Other types of accommodation were affected by 5 percent of bookings.
