Szallas.hu: Lake Balaton is the most popular destination at Pentecost
A regional summary of bookings for the Pentecost long weekend revealed that the Balaton region is the most popular domestic tourist region among Hungarians: 24.3 percent of all Pentecost domestic bookings are for the Hungarian sea region, according to data from Szallas.hu.
According to a statement sent to MTI on Wednesday, the Northern Great Plain came in second place with 14.4 percent, while the Southern Great Plain came in third place with 14.3 percent of bookings.
Among the regions, Northern Hungary can prepare for significant guest traffic with 10.8 percent of bookings, Western Transdanubia (10 percent), and the Budapest-Central Danube region (9 percent).
Destinations representing a smaller share include Southern Transdanubia (7 percent) and Central Transdanubia (6.5 percent), while the Lake Tisza area was chosen by travelers in 3.7 percent of bookings.
Among the cities, Siófok leads the domestic top list of the most popular Pentecost destinations, based on Szallas.hu booking data.
The gold medalist is followed by Gyula, Szeged, Eger and Balatonfüred. The top list also includes Budapest, Miskolc, tied with Hévíz and Nyíregyháza, as well as Pécs and Sopron.
According to Szallas.hu pre-booking data, two-night stays are the most common during the upcoming Pentecost long weekend, accounting for nearly half of the bookings made so far.
