Polish retail trade accelerates
In Poland, unemployment fell in April, compared to the previous month, while retail sales jumped in April, grewing by nearly 19 percent compared to the same month of last year – reported the country's statistical office on Wednesday.
The unemployment rate in April – according to the analysts' expectations – decreased to 12.6 percent from the 13.1 percent of March. (February: 13.2 percent). In last April, the rate was 12.3 percent. In Poland, the unemployment rate peaked at 20.7 percent in 2003.
The April retail sales rose by 18.6 percent on an annual basis, which is a substantial acceleration, compared with the 9.4 percent expansion of March. According to the statistical office; retail sales rose by 2.3 percent in April compared to March – reports MTI.
