Bird flu has also reached Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County
The laboratory of the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) has detected the presence of bird flu virus in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County. The liquidation of the affected roast duck population and the epidemiological investigation are in progress. Nébih draws attention to the fact that the risk of bird flu still exists, so compliance with biosecurity measures is of paramount importance.

The increased mortality and the appearance of nervous system symptoms on the roast duck farm in Nyírbátor, Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County, which has approximately 115,000 ducks, drew the attention of the animal keeper to the suspicion of bird flu. The Nébih laboratory confirmed the H5N1 subtype of the virus in the dead animals. The liquidation of the affected population is in progress. A 3 km radius protection zone has been designated around the farm, and a 10 km radius surveillance (observation) zone has been established.
Nébih draws the attention of livestock keepers to the ongoing threat of bird flu
Disease control discipline cannot be reduced even if there are no outbreaks in the country. The office continues to ask poultry keepers to do everything possible to prevent the virus from entering their flock. The risk of bird flu entering poultry farms can only be minimized by strict and consistent adherence to biosecurity measures.
