A swimming contest where a beer bump is even an advantage – Video of the day
On a random Saturday morning we were strolling through the English Garden (a massive public park in Munich, Germany) when we saw a crowd of people gathering near the river bank. Normally, this wouldn’t be an uncommon occurrence in the Park, aside from the speakers blasting music and the presence of start/finish lines.
We hung around, much to Brittany’s chagrin to see what in the world was about to ensue. Turns out, it was a beer chugging swimming race. The rules went something like this…… Four men at a time, donned in their fanciest of speedos wait for a whistle, swim down stream 5 meters, chug a large glass of beer, and then swim back up stream against a strong current. Obviously, the first man wins.
Its worth noting that it was about 16 degrees out and the water couldn’t have been much warmer. Nonetheless, this was a highly competitive contest, and definitely a sport I could see myself enjoying.
