The consumer protection authority has revealed serious violations at the Wolt group of companies

The consumer protection authority drew attention to the fact that the number of complaints related to food delivery has increased significantly recently, with consumers often complaining about the quality and condition of the delivered products. Therefore, an extraordinary consumer protection investigation has been launched to investigate the practices of the companies concerned.

Although proceedings were already initiated against the largest market players last year, ongoing inspections have revealed new suspicions of violations. In order to fully inform consumers and protect vulnerable groups, the Wolt courier company and its related companies have undergone a comprehensive inspection.

During the inspection of Wolt Services Hungary Kft., the company that carries out the sale, it was determined that minors were served prohibited products (alcohol and energy drinks) on several occasions. In addition, they violated the rules on displaying promotional prices when they advertised so-called “camouflage promotions” and did not display the promotional unit price. In addition, consumers were not informed in advance about the name and contact details of the company, since the consumer does not know which company he has contracted with until the invoice is issued – the authority listed.
