Nébih discovered serious violations of animal health regulations at a cattle ranch in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County
The inspectors of the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) took action at an animal keeper in Tornaszentjakab (Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county) due to seriously and repeatedly illegal animal husbandry practices – the agency informed on Thursday about the April case.
According to the statement, cattle were illegally kept at the site without notification. Nébih initiated official proceedings against the keepers of the animals, which is still ongoing.
During the inspection, the inspectors found 3 cow carcasses covered with straw, as well as 10 calf carcasses in various states of decomposition and other animal body parts.
The inspectors of Nébih ordered a traffic restriction on the farm with immediate effect due to the unknown animal health status of the herd, lack of traceability and mandatory records. Basic documents such as the herd register, medical treatment, feeding and visit log were missing, but there was also no written contract with the veterinarian for the provision of veterinary health supervision of the animals. The basic infrastructural conditions, such as a vehicle disinfectant, a black-and-white changing room, a quarantine barn, a place suitable for an autopsy, and a manure storage facility were not provided at the site.
