Hungary’s leading construction company, Market Építő Zrt., and the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) have signed a long-term, strategic cooperation agreement. The partnership aims to jointly develop the construction ecosystem, strengthen digital and sustainability competencies, and prepare engineering talent for the new challenges of the sector. The agreement was signed by Sándor Scheer, CEO of Market Építő Zrt., and Dr. Charaf Hassan, Rector of BME.

In addition to classic engineering knowledge, the construction industry now also needs digital experts, sustainability specialists, and leaders with complex project management skills. The competition for talent thus goes beyond the competition between market players: the fight for the best professionals is also intensifying between individual sectors. Market Építő Zrt., which has been a key player in domestic building construction for 30 years – taking a pioneering role in the fields of BIM, LEAN and digitalization – intends to integrate market innovation into higher education with this agreement.

The agreement is not limited to a single project, but represents the launch of a comprehensive professional program. Market is continuously developing the four pillars of its operations – customer experience, teamwork, quality and operational efficiency – and intends to pass on this dynamic approach during university education.

“For Market Építő Zrt., this cooperation is a future-oriented partnership that strengthens industry innovation and contributes to sustainable development. We believe that knowledge sharing and the transfer of practical experience are key to preparing the next generation of engineers. In this way, we not only ensure professional recruitment, but also actively shape the future of the construction industry” – emphasized Sándor Scheer, CEO of Market Építő Zrt., at the signing ceremony.

The partnership is based on mutual benefits: BME has undertaken to provide professional training for Market employees, promote the company among students, and provide infrastructural invites the company to be among the applicants in its development tenders. The common goal of the parties is to provide students with theoretical knowledge supplemented with modern competencies required by the labor market, including digital skills and a sustainability perspective.

“Today’s engineers need digital skills and a complex perspective in addition to classical knowledge. The planned cooperation with Market experts and their involvement in our education and research and development activities guarantee that our students will graduate from the university with multidisciplinary knowledge. We do not just educate, but we also build the professional community of the future together with economic actors.” – highlighted Charaf Hassan, Rector of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, in connection with the agreement.

Practical knowledge transfer and focus areas

Within the framework of the partnership, the parties will develop a professional program that responds to the current needs of the industry challenges. Key focus areas of the cooperation:

  • Construction industry digitalization and BIM-based design: data-driven decision-making in practice.
  • Sustainability: research and development of green building materials and energy-efficient technologies.
  • Project management and leadership: development of leadership skills necessary for modern engineering work.

Market experts will in the future hold courses at the university, participate in the work of final examination committees, and assist in the preparation of theses and TDK works as external consultants. The goal is for students to graduate with multidisciplinary knowledge and market relevance.

Innovation and talent management

As part of the agreement, Market Építő Zrt. will support BME’s Induktor program, depending on its capacity. Within this framework, the company can provide experts and infrastructure for doctoral students who are working on PhD topics with corporate use.

The company treats talent management as a strategic priority: the current university partnership fits into the line established by joining the “Teach for Hungary” program and supporting the work of the Knowledge Building Team supporting vocational training.
