Ghibli Group and Weerts Logistics Parks (WLP) have opened a modern logistics hall with a floor area of 11,500 m² in Ebes, in response to the economic strengthening of the Eastern Hungary region and the growing partner demands. With the investment, the combined indoor and outdoor capacity of Ghibli’s warehouses in Debrecen and Ebes exceeds 55,000 m², further strengthening the company’s dominant market position in the region. The development also provides the opportunity to expand the on-site capacity by up to 16,500 m².

The new facility was built to the highest industry standards: the 11,500 m² warehouse area is complemented by offices and social rooms, and the in-line heavy-duty racking system supports both pallet and block storage. The industrial floor with a load capacity of 5 tons/m² makes the hall suitable for the safe handling of large goods. Strategic location for intermodality

Thanks to its location, the center is effectively connected to domestic and international supply chains: it has a direct connection to the M35 motorway, main roads 4 and 47, and Debrecen Airport. The nearby Xanga Rail Terminal’s rail track connection enables the integration of rail transport, supporting more sustainable logistics operations, while on-site export-import and transit customs administration significantly accelerates international trade processes.

Zoltán Szabó, Managing Director of Ghibli Group , highlighted: “Debrecen and its region are developing into a distribution logistics center that can serve not only the city, but also the surrounding countries. The region has outstanding potential from a logistics perspective, and our goal is to be an active shaper of this.”

WLP Ebes – The new logistics standard of Eastern Hungary

In July 2022, Weerts Logistics Park HUR One Kft. purchased the more than 12-hectare site from the Ebes municipality area.

The company has committed to implementing an investment including a building with a floor area of at least 50 thousand square meters by December 31, 2026.

The logistics center built in Ebes, near Debrecen, is the first speculative investment in Eastern Hungary that was implemented by a foreign investor without an order book, at his own risk. The project was implemented on a plot of more than 122,000 m², in a strategic location, close to Debrecen Airport, the BMW factory and the M35 motorway.

Mária Szabóné Karsai – Mayor of Ebes emphasized in her welcoming speech that: “Any investment that creates jobs, strengthens the local economy and contributes to the development of the settlement in the long term is of utmost importance for Ebes. The warehouse center of Ghibli Kft. and Weerts Logistics Parks is such a forward-looking development that we can be proud of.”

Roundtable on the logistics of the future: competitiveness, workforce, sustainability

The handover also served as a professional forum: at the regional roundtable discussion, Mária Szabóné Karsai, Mayor of Ebes, Ernő Hadnagy, the WLP Managing Director, Zoltán Szabó, Managing Director of the Ghibli Group, Tamás Fábián, Strategy and Business Development Director of the Ghibli Group, analyzed the competitiveness of the eastern region, the investment environment and the labor market challenges.
