After more than three decades of decisive leadership, Gábor Dittel, the Executive Secretary General of the National Transport Industry Association of Private Entrepreneurs (NiT Hungary), handed over the operational management of the organization to his successor, Ferenc Lajkó.

The ceremonial announcement took place at the NiT Hungary ceremonial board meeting and awards gala event, where representatives of the profession and government partners were also present.

Gábor Dittel has been at the helm of the organization since 1990 and has developed NiT Hungary into one of the most decisive interest representation organizations in the Hungarian road transport subsector for more than three decades.

Under his leadership, the board established numerous national and international collaborations, and initiated such now traditional professional events as the BusExpo, the National Passenger Transport Professional Conference, the “5 axles – with a sure hand!” driving technique competition, See with my eyes – traffic safety competition for children, and the Carriage Contractors Carnival Ball and Award Gala.

The symbolic moment of the baton handover was made memorable by the handing over of an engraved baton, which Gábor Dittel personally handed over to the newly appointed Executive Secretary General.

It was stated at the event: the task of the new management is to build on the organization’s more than 30 years of experience and values to respond to the challenges of the new era and further strengthen the competitiveness of Hungarian transport companies in both the EU and domestic environments.

“I am convinced that the strength of NiT Hungary has always been in human relations, partnership and the ability to adapt. The time has come to pass the baton to the generation that is prepared for the challenges of the next decade.”

– said Gábor Dittel, outgoing Executive Secretary General.

The new Executive Secretary General, Ferenc Lajkó, emphasized in his short speech:

“The goals of the organization remain unchanged, but the approach and methods will continuously adapt to economic and technological changes.”

He emphasized that NiT Hungary will continue to be a reliable, professionally credible and people-oriented partner for all actors in the transport subsector.

NiT Hungary currently represents more than 4,800 member companies nationwide and operates ten offices in seven national regions. The organization’s goal remains to effectively represent the interests of member companies, shape the legislative environment, and strengthen the competitiveness of the Hungarian road transport subsector.
