Magazine: Sales were stable in grocery retail in the last 12 months
According to the Nielsen Retail Index, grocery retail sales amounted to HUF 1,404 billion between February 2013 and January 2014 in the 90 categories audited. Value sales were the same as in the base period but volume sales were down 3 percent. The 401-2,500m² channel realised 36 percent of sales (no change); the above-2,500m² channel’s share also stayed put at 29 percent. Stores with a floor space of 400m² or smaller had a stable 35-percent share form value sales. Budapest and the Central Region is where 28 percent of Hungary’s population resides but they were responsible for 33 percent of grocery retail’s revenue (no change).
