Women’s hygiene market stable at over HUF 13 billion
Sales of women’s hygiene products exceeded HUF 13.5 billion in the May 2008-April 2009 period. Sales have remained stable. Pantyliners are the biggest segment in the category, accounting for 48 percent of the market. Pads account for 28 percent, while tampons account for 24 percent. 76 percent of pantyliners are air permeable, while flexiform products accounted for 30 percent of sales. Drugstores increased their sales and their market share as well (to 26 percent), but hyper markets continued to remain the number one distribution channel, with a 33 percent market share. Private labels increased their market share to 13 percent in the above period.
