SPAR – among the leaders in online marketing
SPAR Hungary has been active in the field of online marketing since 2011, utilising the opportunities created by the internet and relying on the wide range of tools offered by different platforms. In 2012 nearly 3 million people, 34 percent more than in the previous year, were looking for information and product promotions at www.spar.hu. More than 13 million SPAR newsletters were sent and on the www.ajanlatok.spar.hu website, launched last summer, 130,000 users a month were inquiring about the week’s promotions by the end of the year. In addition to this, the company reached 5.1 million users with its price communication banners throughout the year. SPAR Hungary is present on Facebook (with 160,000 likes in March 2013), YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and Pinterest. SPAR keeps its online community interested with various prize games, creative competitions and charity actions. For instance last year more than 18,000 ideas were sent in for the SPAR ESL 2.8% milk carton design and 1.1 million votes were cast (the winning design appeared on the cartons). SPAR Hungary is a responsible company and in December 2012 it appeared with its charity work online too: Facebook users could help the Kelta Street and Páty soup kitchens of the Hungarian Maltese Charity Service by virtual pig feeding, and more than 1.2 million users collected 1,000kg of meat this way. Another SPAR CSR activity called ‘I am with the rabbits’ was launched in March 2013, to raise awareness of responsible rabbit keeping in a funny way; the campaign reached nearly 700,000 people. In December 2012 SPAR’s online achievements were rewarded with a 3rd place in the Kreatív Group’s Social Media Best Practice (SMBP) competition.
