Beer breakfast from a Budapest guerrilla brewery
The most creative brewers of the small-brewery beer market surprise the public with more and more unusual combinations, since it is increasingly difficult to stand out from the crowd with a beer with a traditional taste. Now here’s the coffee and toast flavored IPA.
The heavily hopped India Pale Ale (IPA) or the completely black stout, which were still considered a curiosity a few years ago, are now part of the basic range of most small breweries: they are made regularly and of a reliably high quality.
Meanwhile, thanks to the continuous recipe development of brewers, sour beer styles such as berliner weisse or gose will become more and more popular in Hungary, and products with more and more complex flavors will also be released, if only the various desserts – such as apple pie, szerbó or baklava – we mean its beer counterparts. However, there have been very few examples of someone presenting the flavors of “a whole breakfast” in a single beer.
Yet Timco Brewing’s new product, Coffee And Toast, does just that: the India Pale Ale type beer has both real coffee and orange peel. According to brewer Tim Helmick, both coffee and toast represent flavors that everyone knows well and that most people like. They tried to carry on these popular aromas in the form of a “breakfast IPA”, in which real Brazilian and Colombian coffee, roasted malt and organic orange peel were added.
