Lots of British pubs closed due to the crisis
An average of 52 UK pubs close every week because of the crisis. Last year, a total of 24 thousand people lost their jobs due to closure of pubs. In the last half-year 39 people remained without work per week.
According to the British Beer & Pub Association (BBPA) the tax increase on beer, worsens the situation. Only in the last two budget debates, the government's increased by 20 percent the tax on beer, which means a 600 million pounds (nearly one billion USD) additional burden for the pub owners. In addition, pubs smoking ban and the low beer prices of the supermarkets also has a negative effect on the turnover of the pubs – reports Origo.
