Magazine: Beer snacks and other finger foods
Finger food doesn’t denote new type of food: it means the regrouping of certain existing foods to meet 21st-century consumption trends. The rapidly growing popularity of street food has contributed to the success of finger foods, and sensing the new trend the food industry has also jumped on the bandwagon. Asian and Mediterranean flavours, hamburgers, meatballs and their vegetarian versions, fried vegetable and cheese bites – mainly these finger foods can be found in the portfolios of the biggest suppliers.
Salomon Food has been dominating the European finger food market for more than two decades. In Hungary some of their products – about half a dozen – are distributed by McCain. Some of Salomon’s latest innovations are so-called ‘pulled’ meat products. Asian-style noodles on sticks are another innovation direction from the company.Salomon also offers bao-style hamburger buns, made by mixing wheat and rice flour.
What is new in the world of beer snacks? The Association of Hungarian Brewers has announced the Hungary’s Best Beer Snack competition for the second time. Entries can compete in three categories: snacks for wheat beer, lager and dark beer. Our magazine hopes that initiatives like this will make creative chefs and beer lovers think and come up with excellent beer snack ideas. //
