Many tourists visit Lake Balaton in winter, but according to tourism organizations, better use could be made of the Advent period
The region’s tourism professionals are expecting thousands of tourists to Lake Balaton in December, but they believe that the Advent period could be better utilized by uniting the Balaton settlements and with a Santa Claus project similar to the Finnish model.
Tamás Fekete, the vice-president of the Balaton Tourism Association, wrote in a statement sent to MTI on Sunday that even before the Christmas period, many events are held that can once again prove that Lake Balaton is not closed at the end of the summer season, and that winter Lake Balaton is also attractive. can be a destination for Hungarian families.
Péter Éskovács, one of the advisers of the Open Balaton action, highlighted in the announcement that the program managers of the Balaton settlements could make better use of the Advent period by working together. According to him, for this, the leaders, tourism and marketing professionals of the settlements in the region should follow the example of the Finnish travel specialists.
