Not many applicants have applied for tobacco shop concessions, despite the deadline expired today.

A total of 992 tenders were announced, but the candidates are discouraged, because opening a tobacco shop is not a big business, as it was expected. According to experts, alcohol sales would bring long-term benefits, but range of tradable products could be also expanded by dietary supplements as well – the Világgazdaság wrote.

The already existing tobacco shops are not producing the expected results, because the tobacco sales were 669 million HUF last October, and only 632 million HUF in December 2013. According to the tax authority, the number of sold cigarettes were over one billion December 2013.
