There are many illegal strawberry sellers
During this spring, vendors offering “honey-sweet Hungarian strawberries” appeared again in Hungarian public spaces. Although the slogan may be tempting, it is important to know that we often do not get what is promised. According to a video shared on Organikus Farm’s TikTok channel, these products are often not they are from a Hungarian garden, but of Spanish or Greek origin, which they try to sell as Hungarian products.
One of the experienced Hungarian growers who spoke in the video claims that “80% of the products offered by such sellers are Spanish or Greek strawberries, which are sold as Lajosmizse Hungarian strawberries”. to identify Hungarian primary producers:
VAT invoice and original producer’s license: Request a VAT invoice and ask for the original producer’s license. This allows us to check whether the seller is really operating legally.
Photos of the production: Ask the seller to show photos of the strawberry field where the goods come from. If you can’t prove its origin, you should be suspicious.
Conditions for legal sales: An operating license is required for mobile sales. This is regulated by the Act on Trade and the Government Decree on the Conditions for Conducting Commercial Activities. If someone doesn’t have such a permit, it could be illegal selling.
