Slaughter pig prices at a peak
In June 2017 agricultural production prices increased by 2.5 percent from the level of June 2016 – reported the Central Statistical Office (KSH). This rise was the result of the price of vegetable products decreasing by 3.1 percent and livestock/products of animal origin prices increasing by 13 percent from the base period level.
Cereal crops became 7.2 percent cheaper and potato prices dropped 22 percent. Livestock production prices rose 8.7 percent and we had to pay 23 percent more for products of animal origin. Slaughter pig’s price increased by 19 percent to HUF 451/kg – this is the highest price of recent years. Broiler chicken’s price stagnated around HUF 250/kg in the last 5 months. //
