Siófok was the most popular destination this summer as well
Siófok proved to be the most popular domestic summer destination this year, similarly to last year, according to data from Szallas.hu. In a statement sent to MTI on Tuesday, the accommodation booking portal informed that a third of all bookings were for the Balaton region.
According to the analysis, this summer was once again dominated by short trips: in addition to one-night (28 percent) and two-night (30 percent) bookings, a fifth of travelers chose a three-day vacation. 12 percent booked accommodation for four nights, and only 2 percent chose a one-week or longer stay.
Among the types of accommodation, the most popular were apartments (32 percent), followed by hotels (27 percent), guesthouses (22 percent), and pensions (13 percent).
According to the statement, eighty percent of domestic summer accommodation bookings fell into the category of under 170 thousand forints: 47 percent of them were cheaper than 70 thousand forints, while 34 percent belonged to the 70-170 thousand forint range – the statement quoted Lili Kelemen, press spokesperson for Szallas.hu.
The proportion of bookings between 170-270 thousand forints and 270-370 thousand forints was 12 percent and 4 percent respectively this summer, while the proportion of those worth more than that was 3 percent – they said.
27 percent of the total value of online payments related to domestic summer bookings was paid with a SZÉP card on the Szallas.hu website.
Budapest was in second place on the list of top 10 destinations, and Eger was in third place. Balatonfüred, Gyula, Hajdúszoboszló, Szeged, Hévíz, Pécs and Nyíregyháza were also included. According to regional distribution, Balaton was followed by (31 percent), then Northern Hungary (16 percent) and the Southern Great Plain (11 percent), according to data from Szallas.hu.
