Siófok was the most popular domestic, rural destination last year
Siófok has once again become the country’s most popular rural destination in domestic tourism based on the total number of guest nights last year, the city said in a statement.
Citing data from the Central Statistical Office, they wrote: in 2024, 3 million guests spent 8.6 million guest nights in the commercial and private accommodation facilities of the Balaton region, which is 4 percent more than the similar figure in 2023.
Last year, 71 percent of guest nights came from domestic guests and 29 percent from foreign guests in the resort region.
They highlighted that
based on the number of guest nights last year, Siófok is the first among the settlements in the Balaton region, followed by Hévíz, Balatonfüred, Zalakaros and Keszthely.
In a national comparison, in 2024, after Budapest, which recorded 16 million guest nights, Siófok had the most overnight stays, followed by Hajdúszoboszló, Hévíz and Balatonfüred.
