Siófok leads Szallas.hu’s domestic booking top list for the summer of 2025
Siófok leads Szallas.hu’s domestic booking top list for the summer of 2025, with nearly two and a half times as many bookings as second-place Budapest. The Balaton region is the most sought-after region, with a third of bookings, and apartments are the best-selling accommodation type, the Szallas.hu portal told MTI on Friday.
According to pre-booking data, the majority of guests booked accommodation for two nights for the summer, and nearly three-quarters of bookings do not exceed 170 thousand forints, they added.
Eger is third on the top list of the most popular domestic destinations, followed by Balatonfüred, Gyula and Hajdúszoboszló, while Szeged, Pécs, Nyíregyháza and Balatonlelle also made it into the top ten most popular settlements.
Among the regions, the Balaton region leads the field: a third of bookings came here, according to Szallas.hu data. The Northern Great Plain is in second place with 15 percent, followed by the Southern Great Plain. The Budapest-Central Danube Region accounts for nearly a tenth of the bookings.
This is followed by Western Transdanubia and Northern Hungary, both with a share of 8 percent each – explained Lili Kelemen, press spokesperson for Szallas.hu. Southern Transdanubia received 7 percent and Central Transdanubia 6 percent of the pre-bookings, while the Lake Tisza region closes the line with a share of 4 percent.
Most of the bookings made for the summer are worth less than 70 thousand forints, which represents 39 percent of the bookings. Another 37 percent fall into the value category between 70 and 170 thousand forints, so nearly three-quarters of the bookings do not exceed 170 thousand forints.
Apartments are the leading accommodation types nationwide, accounting for more than a third of the pre-bookings. The second most popular type is the hotel, the third is the guesthouse. Every eighth booking is for a guesthouse. The proportion of other options, villas, and campsites is 5 percent, according to data from Szallas.hu.
