Poor quality Ariel and Persil fakes hit the shelves
NAV cracked down on a man dealing in fake detergents. The bottles with branded labels contained poor quality chemicals, the fraudster earned at least 2 million by trickery.
A man from Békéscsaba was selling fake detergent from his garage when the tax inspectors of the National Tax and Customs Administration pounced on him. According to the announcement of the tax authority, the fake bottles labeled Ariel and Persil actually contained low-quality chemicals, from which the man made at least two million forints.
The owner of the trademark did not give permission for this, so the NAV initiated proceedings for violation of industrial property rights. According to the man, he bought the cleaning products online and did not know they were fake. The tax authority draws attention to the fact that counterfeit products can even pose a health risk – in the event that someone has bought them.
