ProWein 2011: International Experts gear up for the Summit Meeting of the Industry

All signs are pointing to success. The current state of registrations for ProWein, the trade fair that brings together the international wine and spirits sector from 27 to 29 March 2011, is compelling proof: The No. 1 trade fair ProWein is a must-go event in the international event calendar.

Under the motto “To Another Great Year” more than 3,500 suppliers will come together in Düsseldorf – a new record! No other event offers retail and hospitality such a uniquely international overview of the current wine and spirits ranges.

All winegrowing nations of international relevance are present; ranking first is Germany with nearly 800 exhibitors followed by Italy, France, Austria, Spain and Portugal. Suppliers from around 50 nations are represented from A to Z also including numerous companies from the so-called New World: Australia, Chile, California, New Zealand, South Africa and Uruguay. Participating for the first time is Japan. With 100 exhibitors from Bulgaria, Estonia, Georgia, Croatia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania and Slovenia even Eastern Europe boasts a representative line-up.

More than 36,000 international visitors are expected to benefit from the proven clear segmentation that ensures optimum orientation. The extensive choice of wines and sparkling wines is grouped by country of origin while spirits are centrestage in Hall 7a. Also a special highlight of the 2011 ProWein will be the central Tasting Zone with over 1,000 wines. This time it comes under the heading of: “Trend Experiences: Tradition versus Modernity” or “How Oenology determines Wine Styles”.
Spirit Gems from around the Globe
Be it whisk(e)y, vodka, gin or calvados – in addition to those renowned classics the suppliers also have a host of extraordinary specialities of regional distilleries in the pipeline. The spirits area at ProWein has a plethora of high-proof innovations in store. In view of some 300 international exhibitors visitors can rest assured they will get many valuable ideas and inspirations for their assortments.

Accompanying Events tempt Visitors with over 200 Delightful Ranges
Versatile, innovative and inspiring – the programme of events accompanying ProWein 2011 promises “undiluted delights”. The German Wine Institute DWI features its “Pinot Trio” descriptively illustrating the differences between pinot blanc, gris and noir. With “Down2Earth” numerous renowned exhibitors from growing regions in the so-called New World, i.e. Argentina, California, Chile, New Zealand and South Africa, will once again be offering a high-calibre programme of seminars. Now that the presentation of the California Wine Institute has become a traditional fixture at ProWein, 2010 saw a group from New York join the range for the first time and this year the US range will be extended to include joint stands from the states of Washington and Oregon. And while Israel presents its great wines under the motto “Clear Strength, Rich Spices”, chocolatière Sabine Pauly invites visitors to “Sensual Seductions” made of chocolate and exquisite Vallendar distilled beverages. The Weinfachverband Elsass, CIVA, presents a combination of Crémants and finger food with “Wine and Spices” while “East meets West” is the title of an exciting tasting area involving various versions of Japanese sake and cheese.
