The period for submitting a single application has been successfully completed
Farmers submitted almost 165,000 uniform applications for the 52 agricultural support titles announced on the basis of the new EU rules, requesting support for approximately 5 million hectares of land, said Agriculture Minister István Nagy.
The head of the department reminded that the changed European regulations brought about significant changes in the conditions for applying for subsidies. Compliance with the new regulations meant adaptation and administrative tasks on the part of the farmers. This spring, the stakeholders were able to submit for the first time their claims regarding support titles announced under the new rules in the new system. A total of almost 165,000 farmers submitted a single application to the Hungarian State Treasury, which is 1.5 percent more than in 2022. The minister added that there is a basic subsidy for every hectare, and with the redistribution subsidy, small and family farms benefit from significantly increased resources. In view of the numerous changes, recognition and thanks go to the Chamber’s village farmers who help the farmers, the consultants and those who contribute to the process, highlighted István Nagy. He emphasized that the biggest innovation of the year 2023 is the Agro-Ecological Program (AÖP), the essence of which is to better coordinate nature conservation and profitable and at the same time conscious agricultural production than in previous production practices. The application data received for the implementation of the program far exceeded expectations. A total of 62,000 producers have indicated their need for support for an area of more than 4 million hectares. This is also due to the fact that the extensive information campaign of the Greyhound Ministry and the National Chamber of Agrarian Economy about the program was effective, underlined the greyhound minister.
Such submissions were in the majority
On arable land, the most submissions were received regarding the diversification of crop production, the use of microbiological preparations, the use of soil and plant conditioners, and nitrogen-fixing preparations. In the case of grasslands, the practice with the largest requested area was grazing or intermittent grazing, mowing extensive grasslands at least once a year and preserving grasslands. For plantations, mulching, the use of microbiological preparations and the prohibition of the use of substances dangerous to bees were the most popular options – listed the head of the ministry.
The minister also mentioned that there were no interruptions in the case of the other completely new legal title, the redistributive support that puts smaller farms in a more advantageous position
Almost 155,000 customers were entitled to the higher subsidy for the first 10 hectares, on about 980,000 hectares, while about 58,000 farmers on more than 2.46 million hectares can benefit from the additional subsidy for the area between 11 and 150 hectares. István Nagy emphasized that the generational change is a significant challenge in the sector. Therefore, it is gratifying that, even with the EU conditions becoming stricter compared to the previous period, almost the same number of 6.9 thousand young producers and in a significantly larger area, about 229 thousand hectares, requested support, which significantly exceeds the value included in the Strategic Plan of the Common Agricultural Policy, explained the head of the ministry .
