The summer season at Lake Balaton and Budapest was successful
This year’s summer tourist season in Hungary officially ended on August 20, but the restaurants are still waiting for visitors, especially around Lake Balaton and Budapest. Speaking to InfoRádio, Tamás Flesch, the president of the Association of Hungarian Hotels and Restaurants, gave a positive assessment of this season, stressing that although the peak of the summer was the weekend of August 20, there are still a significant number of guests in various regions of the country, and the autumn programs are also they will attract many visitors.
In recent years, Lake Balaton has increasingly followed the concept of year-round tourism, so that life around the lake does not cease with the end of the summer season. Tamás Flesch said that the area around Lake Balaton offers more and more events and programs that attract visitors even in the autumn months. He highlighted, for example, the Wine & Gourmet festival to be held on the first weekend of September in Veszprém, which is expected to attract a large number of visitors, especially to the northern shore of Lake Balaton and the Balaton highlands.
According to the specialist, similar to Balaton, other resorts are stronger during the summer season, but he expressed hope that autumn weekends will still attract enough visitors to make it worth keeping open. The weather and program offerings greatly influence the success of the postseason.
